The National Institute for Mental Health in England ( now called the National Mental Health Development Unit) is a medical organization whose activities range from coordinating research to developing services. They produced this manual on setting up crisis resolution and home treatment teams . This manual is also based on experience in the Birmngham system, and provides much more information about the history and theory of crisis work, the research base, and -in particular the vision and philosophy behind home treatment. They strongly emphasize the central role of the service user and the informal carers in their lives, and the importance of recovery principles to which intensive home treatment so strongly adheres to. crht NIMHE guide
