1. North Islington randomized controlled trial: intensive home treatment v. hospital UK 2005

This randomized controlled trial by Sonia Johnson is the latest study and is noteworthy for three reasons. It is the highest quality study; it pits intensive home treatment against an up to date hospital service which includes an after hours emergency service that does home visits; and the population has a  relatively higher degree of social deprivation  and lack of social support.
